For a season or a lifetime?

We all have people in our lives we call friends. Someone you can run to when you need a shoulder to lean on, someone you laugh with and share all the good memories with. We all create such relationships over the course of our lifetimes. But how do you choose your friends and how long long do you keep them in your life? Do you hang on to them throughout your lifetime or do you recycle and get new friends as you evolve?
Friendships are created on a basis of relationships. Just as with all relationships you have to relate to an individual in order to sustain them. Similarly a friendship is also nurtured in the mutual unspoken agreement that both parties have to both equally benefit from the relationship. I mean what’s the point of indulging in a friendship if one does not benefit from it?
As we evolve through our lives, our needs and wants do the same. Change in your life does not guarantee that your friend’s lives are changing too. At some point your friends may no longer relate to who you are or your experiences. Do you hold on to the people you call friends simply because you deemed them as friends or do you recycle and make new friends who are compatible with your life?
